Teen suicide

Last year there have been more then eight teen who have committed suicide because there were bullied for being gay or questioning their sexual orientation.
And this year alone there have been 3 teen who have committed suicide.

  • 13-year old Seth Walsh
  • 13-year old Billy Lucas
  • 13-year old Asher Brown
  • 14-year old Kameron Jacobsen
  • 14-year old Brandon Bitner
  • 15-year old Justin Aaberg
  • 18-year old Tyler Clementi
  • 19-year old Raymond Chase
  • 19-year old Corey Jackson (2011)
  • 14-year old Jamey Rodemeyer (2011)
  • 15-year old Jamie Hubley (2011)

And there are the eight families who are mourning the senseless death of their sons.
Suicide is the third leading cause of death among teenagers. The Centers for Disease Control states suicide is the second leading cause of death on college campuses. But for a young person who is gay, the risk is even higher. According to The Trevor Project, “gay teens are up to four times more likely to attempt suicide than their heterosexual peers; 9 out of 10 teen LGBT students have experienced harassment at school. ”
I am so not with bullying at all, as bullying is a big problem in our schools, and there seems to be no end in sight. And from the news I have seen, it seem that the schools are not wanting to take any responsibility for the bullying that is taking place or even try to put a stop to the bullying.. Just like one school up in Minnesota who put in a Neutrality policy asking the staff to remain neutral on matters regarding sexual orientation. Check out the bullying in school page where I will be talking more about this topic.
Let put a stop to bullying right now, if you see someone getting bullied tell someone right away.

Check out the sign of suicide page for all of the information you need to know.
